A new tool for architecture awards season

Creating a simple tool to help architects find new opportunities to feature projects in architecture awards.

A new tool for Archi Awards

I’ve seen quite a bit on linkedin on architecture awards lately. Here is our contribution. My daughter and I created a new tool for archi awards. It’s called Architecture Awards Tracker and is the most comprehensive list in the world today (until someone else tries it).

Its a simple tool that solves a simple and acute problem.

  • How to deal with architecture awards season
  • how to find new opportunities to feature projects and
  • how to manage submission timeframes throughout the year.

Archi awards research done for you

I’ve done the research on archi awards not only for architects, but also interior designers, landscape architects, urban designers and property developers, so off the bat, most practices could save many hours of research time.

Visually Intuitive Display of Archi Awards

The tool sorts awards by date in a simple dynamic graph that helps you visualise opportunities for awards submissions, relative to your projects publication schedule. You can isolate onto each month to see what is available.

Find new opportunities for your projects

The location filter is particularly useful. The world selection shows international awards that can be entered by any architect in the world. I got this tip when I talked to an architect in HK that won awards in France and the UK by seeking these types of awards.

Mange your submission workflows

The tool has a bookmark function, that allows you to scan across all the awards you are thinking of preparing for, and isolating to your own selections. This gives you a visual representation of when submissions are during the year.

This helps architecture firms that have a lead time of photography and presentation drawings. It could help you smooth out your submissions, or conversely shows how your projects could apply for new opportunities you hadn’t considered.

Seeing archi awards at a glance

There is a dashboard view that shows the awards you are going for that month, and how many total there are available. There is also a onboarding description that shows how to use the tool.

For architecture firms big and small

The tool is useful for small firms that don’t have dedicated staff for submissions and the research surrounding it. It saves you time, time you can put back into preparing for relevant awards.

For all firms with the resources to submit in more categories and locations, this is the only tool that separates by discipline. It can be particularly handy for an architecture firm that has an urban or landscape department, and can see new opportunities to submit.

Room to grow

Although this is already the most comprehensive list of architecture awards in the world, there are many more awards that are specific to nations and states. If this tool takes off, I will be able to apply resources to these more specific awards and make this into an even more useful tool.

Architecture Awards Tracker Feedback

This is our first foray into making apps. It’s 10x harder than anything we’ve done before. The advantage of apps or micro saas (software as a service) is that you can address a real problem that real people have difficulty with.

I’ve been asking around for feedback on the app and what value they would put to a tool that helps firms gain recognition through architecture awards.

The tool is priced relatively low compared to the time each firm stands to save in research and planning of submissions.

Validation

The ultimate validation of the idea is if architects, interiors, landscapes and property developers are willing to buy it. If you’ve read this far and had a look through the site. Thankyou!
